Don’t Believe the Words of Either Pashinyan or Kocharian: Levon Ter-Petrosyan

The situation in Armenia is explosive, and my perception is that these elections will be the most disgraceful and dangerous in the history of Armenia. This was stated by the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, during the presentation of the HAK’s electoral program.

“There are two polarities that are vying for power at any cost. I do not use the term ‘at any cost’ lightly. They are prepared to do anything. Both sides possess enormous financial, administrative, and criminal resources. Both sides will resort to any measures to achieve their goals. There is a situation being created where, after a brutal defeat, normal nations would experience a moment of sobriety, realizing the seriousness of the situation; on the contrary, they use this moment to plunge the state into a deeper pit. They will not stop at anything; do not believe the words of either Pashinyan or Kocharian. We have already seen what their honest words have cost our people. If anyone believes any of their words, I have my doubts about that person’s level or intellect,” said Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

The first president noted that there was a wonderful way to get out of this situation. A peaceful transition of power could be made, forming a normal crisis management government.

“If Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan had accepted my proposal to form a coalition, everything would have been resolved immediately. The Pashinyan phenomenon would have ceased to exist in Armenia, and the former presidents would have calmly withdrawn, creating a wonderful government. Our people are tired of politics; they do not want political figures, they need professionals who could rectify the situation in the country in 1-2 years,” emphasized Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
