We Have About 50 Remains, From Which DNA Has Not Been Isolated Even After 4-5 Attempts: Pashinyan
The DNA testing and identification of bodies has reached the final phase, stated Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a government session.
“We have bodies that have not been identified, but we also have relatives of the missing who have not provided DNA samples for various reasons. We have identified bodies that have not been taken by relatives for different reasons. There are both objective and subjective reasons. We also have about 50 remains, from which DNA has not been isolated even after 4-5 attempts, and to clarify these cases, we need to turn to our international partners, who are more experienced in this regard to help us,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
He noted that there have been cases where relatives have questioned the results of the investigations conducted in Armenia and have taken samples abroad on their own initiative, with the results matching 99 percent of the time. “I regularly meet with the relatives of the missing, and during our last meeting, we discussed a case that is still ongoing. I hope that the final results will also confirm the accuracy of the data from Armenian laboratories,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
