Deceased from COVID-19 to Be Autopsied: Decision Passed in First Reading

The National Assembly approved in the first reading a draft law presented by the government, proposing to also autopsy individuals who have died from COVID-19. According to Armenpress, the draft law amending the 'Law on Medical Assistance and Services to the Population' received 68 votes in favor during the Assembly session.

While presenting the draft at a special session of the Assembly, Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan reminded that when the coronavirus infection was first spreading, a temporary restriction was imposed by a change in law that prevented pathological autopsies in cases of death from the virus. 'Now, we are lifting that prohibition with this law,' stated Avanesyan, adding that technical corrections have also been made.
