Azerbaijan Ready to Negotiate Peace Agreement, But Armenia Has Not Responded: Aliyev

On June 2, European Council President Charles Michel had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, according to Azerbaijani media reports.

During the conversation, issues regarding security and stability in the region following the trilateral statement made by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia on November 10, 2020, were discussed.

Michel expressed the European Union's readiness to support the initiation of the delimitation and demarcation process. He called on both parties to cooperate on issues related to detained individuals, mine clearance, and other humanitarian matters in a fully transparent manner.

Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan is prepared to initiate negotiations with Armenia regarding the signing of a peace agreement, but Armenia has yet to respond to this call.

Michel urged both sides to conduct negotiations in a constructive atmosphere.
