VIDEO: Man Hits Neighbor on Head with Bat During Brawl
On May 26, the Artashat police department received a report that an ambulance had transported a man with a cranial injury from Artashat to the "Erebuni" medical center.
An operational group was dispatched to the hospital. The victim concealed the actual circumstances of the incident, claiming that he had fallen off a bicycle at the intersection of August 23 and Bakunts streets in Artashat.
Through operational inquiries, it became clear that such an incident had not occurred. The victim had sustained the injury on Ayvazovskyi Street, where he lived, and not from falling off a bicycle. He had been beaten and then struck on the head with an object.
Police officers dispatched to Ayvazovskyi Street used investigative measures to ascertain both the circumstances of the incident and the identity of the suspect. He was identified as a 35-year-old neighbor of the victim.
The two had argued over household matters, exchanged punches, and during the brawl, the neighbor struck the victim on the head with a bat.
Thanks to explanatory work, the suspect turned himself in to the Artashat police department on May 27 and provided a confession. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
The detained man has been presented to the Ararat Regional Investigative Department.
Note: The suspect or accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty under the law, in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a legally binding court verdict.
