Photos: The Man Who Saved the Carpets from Shushi's Museum from Enemy Fire, Bringing Them to Yerevan
Facebook user Monica Gaspi has shared photographs along with a note about Armen Khachatryan. On the night of November 1, without the car's headlights, because he was under enemy fire (on the Shushi – Aghavno road, about 40 km), Armen moved the samples from Shushi's carpet museum to the History Museum of Yerevan and the National Gallery. In the vehicle, there were about 160 carpets, carpet samples and embroidery, 30 pieces of pottery, and 50 paintings. During the evacuation, there was no accounting for the samples, yet Armen managed to deliver everything safely.
Thanks to people like him, we have been, we are, and we will remain.
