Major Traffic Accident in Lori Province: Vehicles Collide, Injuries Reported
Today, on June 2, a major traffic accident occurred in Lori Province. At around 5:10 PM, two vehicles, a BMW X5 and an Opel Astra, collided head-on on the 3rd kilometer section of the Vanadzor-Spitak highway.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, four individuals with bodily injuries were transported to the Vanadzor medical center. Bystanders and the promptly arrived rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Lori regional rescue department were the first to assist the injured, responding with one combat unit.
Medical staff on duty at Vanadzor Hospital also acted swiftly, providing initial medical assistance to the injured on site before their transport to the hospital. Rescue workers extricated the injured from the vehicles, subsequently disconnecting the batteries, shutting off the gas tanks, and securing the area.
Officers from the 1st Platoon of the 5th Battalion of the Road Police’s 2nd Division, commanded by Lieutenant Ludwig Ghandehlyan and Platoon Commander Arman Sukiasyan, also arrived on the scene promptly. Senior investigator Hrachya Khachatryan from the same platoon led the investigative efforts, preparing materials regarding the incident.
The patrol team from the Gugark police department in Vanadzor, overseen by community police supervisor Vahe Hovhannisyan, arrived soon after. The police are currently working to clarify the identities of the drivers and the injured.
