Criminal Case Filed for Inadequate Storage of Fallen Soldiers' Corpses and Remains

The advisor to the Prosecutor General, Gor Abrahamyan, reports: “I find it necessary to inform that due to a lack of space in the refrigerators of the forensic examination department of Kotayk province, the corpses and remains of soldiers who fell during the Artsakh war were transferred in polyethylene bags and left in basement rooms that lacked the necessary conditions for storage. A criminal case has been initiated by the Prosecutor of Kotayk province based on the features of Article 308, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

Following the information received about the incident, the Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee in Abovyan started preparing materials immediately after May 31. As part of the investigative actions being carried out, 6 bags containing the bodies and remains of the fallen soldiers were transferred from the basement to the refrigerators available in the forensic examination department of Kotayk province, while the others were sent to the Martuni morgue in Gegharkunik province.
