Chinese 'CoronaVac' Vaccine Receives Emergency Use Authorization from WHO

The Chinese 'CoronaVac' vaccine, developed by Sinovac, has received emergency use authorization from the World Health Organization (WHO), confirming that it meets international standards for safety, efficacy, and production.

The Ministry of Health reports that the WHO's Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization has also completed its review of the vaccine. According to the study's findings, the vaccine prevents 100% of severe cases of COVID-19, hospitalizations, and fatalities.

Based on the available evidence, the WHO recommends the vaccine for use among individuals aged 18 and older, with two doses administered 14-28 days apart. Therefore, vaccinations with 'CoronaVac' are being conducted in Armenia for individuals aged 18 and above, with a 28-day interval between the two doses, based on the principles of accessibility and voluntariness.
