The Verdict of Serzh Sargsyan's Nephew Will Be Appealed
The verdict concerning Hayk Sargsyan, the nephew of Serzh Sargsyan, will be appealed to the Court of Appeals.
This was stated by Sargsyan's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, during a press briefing after the verdict was announced.
In a ruling today by the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, the attempted murder charge against Hayk Sargsyan was reclassified to causing serious harm to health through negligence. He was acquitted of the other charge.
“We must record that we do not agree with this judicial act, as we believe that my client should have been acquitted on all counts,” Sargsyan added.
It is noteworthy that the court recently acquitted Hayk Sargsyan of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, while the charge of attempted murder, which was reclassified, was subject to a statute of limitations. Essentially, the court acquitted Hayk Sargsyan on one charge and found him guilty on another.
Recall that Hayk Sargsyan is accused in connection with a crime that occurred 11 years ago.
