New Details from the Murder Case of 'Don Pippo's' Brother: Police Provide Insights
On May 31, 2021, around 18:00, the Vagarshapat Police Department received a call from the emergency unit of Vagarshapat Hospital reporting the discovery of a male corpse with gunshot wounds on the Marge-Zvartnots highway in the Ararat region.
On the same day, at 18:30, the fire service reported to the Vagarshapat Police Department about a burning 'Mitsubishi Pajero IO' vehicle in the fields adjacent to the Zvartnots district of Ejmiadzin, where 13 fired cartridges of 5.45 caliber, one fired bullet, and an 'AKSU' model automatic rifle with an empty magazine were found.
As a result of the measures taken, it was determined that the individual suspected of committing the crime had fired indiscriminately from an illegally held automatic weapon in the cabin of the 'Mitsubishi Pajero IO' vehicle towards a 'Lexus 570' vehicle with the intent to unlawfully deprive another of life. Afterward, the 'Mitsubishi Pajero IO' was moved to the fields near the Zvartnots district in Ejmiadzin, set on fire, and the perpetrator fled the scene. As a result of the gunfire, the driver of the 'Lexus 570,' Armen Asatryan, was killed.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Vagarshapat Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under parts 1 of Article 104 and part 1 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. Immediate investigative and procedural actions are being carried out to clarify all the circumstances of the incident and to identify the person (persons) who committed the alleged crime.
