Firefighting Efforts Continue for 9 Days at Masis City Landfill
The Emergency Situations Ministry's fire and rescue teams from Yerevan and regional departments have been conducting firefighting operations and standby duty at the landfill in Masis city for nine days. As of today, May 30, at 09:45, a firefighting unit has been deployed to the scene to continue the suppression works, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.
The firefighting efforts have been temporarily paused, with standby operations currently taking place.
It is noteworthy that on May 22, information was received by the Ararat regional crisis management center about a fire breaking out at the Masis landfill, necessitating the assistance of firefighters and rescuers for suppression efforts.
Two firefighting units from the regional emergency situations department were dispatched to the scene. It was found that approximately 2 hectares of waste was on fire. Additionally, two firefighting units from the Yerevan rescue department were also sent to the site, along with two crawler tractors and one water truck for firefighting operations.
