The Situation in Syunik Province is Normal, No Gunfire: Governor
The situation in Syunik province is normal, there is no gunfire, both parties are stationed in designated areas. This was stated today by the Governor of Syunik, Melikset Poghosyan, in the corridors of the government.
“As you know, it is like that. They have come, violated the state border, and are stationed in the designated locations. Now the number has decreased—there are four posts on their side, and four on ours, with 25 personnel at each post. This is in the area of Lake Sevan,” he noted.
Commenting on the statement made by the former governor of Syunik that the number of Azerbaijanis in Syunik reaches 1,000, Poghosyan indicated that probably Hakobyan knows different locations where they are, but he is not aware of their specific whereabouts.
Poghosyan further stated that there has been no gunfire in the Syunik area and added that Azerbaijanis are not conducting construction work in Syunik.
In response to a question about why the Armenian side has not taken Azerbaijani servicemen captive, Poghosyan suggested asking the Armed Forces.
