Some Want Us to Acquiesce to the Presence of Azerbaijani Forces, Says Pashinyan
The Acting Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated during a government session today that Armenian servicemen from the Gegharkunik border area were not captured, but rather abducted from the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
“The ongoing processes are absolutely unacceptable to us and are happening because some want us to reconcile with the presence of Azerbaijani forces in our territory, which cannot happen,” Pashinyan said.
The acting Prime Minister also announced that the Armenian servicemen abducted from Armenian territory were conducting mine-laying operations. “Moreover, I want to emphasize that these works were conducted in conjunction with the installation of special warning signs. That is, this was not done for diversionary purposes, but signs were placed to indicate that the area was mined. These operations were carried out to enhance the security level of our border,” Pashinyan noted.
According to him, this is not a normal occurrence, as the Azerbaijani authorities try to portray it, but rather a threat to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia.
Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia would appeal to all international organizations regarding this issue to prevent the spread of Azerbaijani misinformation.
