VIDEO: Zarif Delivers Rohani's Greetings to Sargsyan
The President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sargsyan, hosted Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his accompanying delegation today. President Sargsyan welcomed the visit of the friendly Iranian Foreign Minister and emphasized that Armenia considers Iran a reliable partner and a friendly neighbor.
He stated that in the context of the complex situation in the region, the further development and deepening of relations between Armenia and Iran has become extremely important.
President Sargsyan also addressed the fact of the Azerbaijani military's incursion into Armenian territory and the border situation, noting that Azerbaijan is creating a new threat for the entire region with its provocative actions.
Mohammad Javad Zarif, expressing gratitude for the reception, conveyed the warm greetings of Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to President Sargsyan. He remarked that Armenia has always been a good friend of Iran and that the relations between the peoples of the two countries date back centuries.
The Foreign Minister highlighted that Iran supports the establishment of peace and stability in the region and is ready to make the necessary efforts in this direction. At the same time, he emphasized his country's interest in fully maintaining and ensuring the territorial integrity of Armenia, stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran values respect for international legal norms.
The President of the Republic and the Iranian Foreign Minister also discussed the Armenian-Iranian bilateral agenda. The interlocutors agreed that the new challenges facing the region require efforts to expand the agenda of bilateral political and economic relations.
Noting that Iran and Armenia have much greater potential for cooperation than they currently utilize, they highlighted the importance of the continued development of mutually beneficial cooperation within the frameworks of various joint projects.
