VIDEO: Attempted Murder Early in the Morning

On May 24, at 7 AM, the police department of Artashat received a report of a possible stabbing in an apartment on Yerevanyan Street in Artashat. An operational group from the department was dispatched to Yerevanyan Street to verify the information.

Fifteen minutes later, a report came from the hospital, informing that a 67-year-old woman had been transferred for medical assistance with multiple stab wounds from the aforementioned address. A police group also went to the hospital, but not much could be clarified as, according to the doctor's report, the woman was not in a condition to provide a statement.

As a result of the measures taken by law enforcement, it was revealed that around 6:30 AM, during a domestic dispute, a 27-year-old man, a relative of the woman living in the same house, had assaulted her with a kitchen knife. Half an hour after the second alert, the young man was apprehended, confessed to the act, and was arrested. The knife used in the crime was also found.

A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of attempted murder, which has been forwarded to the Ararat Regional Investigative Department.

Notification: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the criminal procedure code of the Republic of Armenia, by a legally enforced verdict of the court.
