National Assembly Observes Moment of Silence for Soldier Killed by Azerbaijani Fire

The National Assembly observed a moment of silence in memory of the soldier who was killed by gunfire from Azerbaijan within the borders of Armenia.

At the start of the session, Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan stated, "As you know, a soldier from Armenia was killed yesterday by gunfire from Azerbaijan that was illegally fired from inside our borders. I propose we honor his memory with a moment of silence." On May 25, in the border area of Verin Shorja in the Gegharkunik Province, contract soldier Junior Sergeant G. Y. Khurshudyan (born in 1989) sustained a fatal gunshot wound from the opposing side's fire.

A criminal case has been initiated in the military prosecutor's office of the Sevan garrison concerning the death of the contract soldier due to the gunfire from the opposing side.
