Belarus Closes Its Embassy in Canada

Belarus is closing its embassy in Canada. The relevant decision by the Council of Ministers has been recorded in the national register of legal acts of the Republic of Belarus.

The republic intends to reduce the number of embassies as well as their staff in certain countries. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indicated that this concerns diplomatic missions whose operations do not yield the "required external economic results." At the same time, Minsk may consider the possibility of expanding its diplomatic presence in "promising" regions.
