Azerbaijanis Demanded Armenian Soldiers Leave Gorhayk, But Were Pushed Back
Yesterday, reports emerged of clashes between Azerbaijani and Armenian soldiers not only in the Gegharkunik region but also in Syunik. As we informed you yesterday, there were no shots fired in Syunik, and there were no injuries, despite circulating rumors to the contrary. However, an incident did occur yesterday between Azerbaijani and Armenian soldiers in Syunik.
According to ArmDaily.am, armed Azerbaijani border violators who have infiltrated the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia approached their positions near the village of Gorhayk in the enlarged community of Sisian and demanded that Armenian soldiers leave the area immediately. In response, the Armenian soldiers stated that they would not leave.
A dispute ensued, and the Armenian soldiers managed to force the Azerbaijanis to retreat, not even giving them time to gather their equipment. Interestingly, the Azerbaijanis have implemented a similar scenario in Gegharkunik, first advancing from their guarded positions and then demanding that Armenian soldiers leave the area.
It has now been 14 days since the enemy has been on the sovereign territory of Armenia, with no intention of returning to their own lands, and they are even advancing meter by meter. Moreover, yesterday, an Armenian soldier was killed in Gegharkunik by sniper fire from the enemy. Nonetheless, life in Armenia, especially the pre-election buzz, continues, and the presence of the enemy seems to cause discomfort neither for the authorities nor the opposition.
