Police Officer Commits Suicide: Details

On May 25, 2021, around 14:10, a call was received at the Vagharshapat division of the RA Police from a hospital regarding the discovery of a body in a cultural house located on Mashtots Street in Ejmiadzin. This was reported by the information and public relations department of the Investigative Committee.

As a result of the measures taken, it was determined that on the same day, around 14:10, the senior police officer of the 2nd platoon of the patrol service of the Vagharshapat division of the Ararat regional police, while performing duties on the aforementioned street, entered the dressing room of the cultural house and, directing the barrel of his service weapon towards his mouth, fired a shot, resulting in his death.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Vagharshapat investigative division of the Ararat regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under the first part of Article 110 of the RA Criminal Code (incitement to suicide). A forensic examination of the body has been appointed, and an investigation is underway.
