I Urge State Authorities to Use All Efforts and Take the Harshest Measures Against Azerbaijan: Armen Sarkissian

The President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, has issued a statement regarding Azerbaijani actions within the borders of Armenia.

“Following ongoing violations and illegal actions against the borders and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, Azerbaijan has resorted to a new provocation aimed at escalating the border situation today. In the border area of Gegharkunik Province, shots have been fired by Azerbaijan toward the Armenian armed forces. There is a casualty on the Armenian side. I extend my deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased serviceman.

I urge relevant state authorities to make every effort and take the strictest measures against encroachments and border violations threatening the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. Condemning Azerbaijan's provocative actions and steps to escalate the situation, we simultaneously call on the international community and all interested states to be as intolerant as possible and to take harsh measures to express appropriate evaluations and condemn Azerbaijan’s provocations.”
