FFL Statement on Political Speculations Regarding the National Team

The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) strongly condemns the political speculations that have arisen after the announcement of the national team roster by head coach Joaquín Caparrós. This is stated in the statement released by the FFA.

The statement reads as follows:

“On May 24, the official website of the FFA published the roster of players preparing for upcoming matches of the national team. Following this, various speculations regarding the selection of the squad began to emerge in certain circles of the public, which clearly contain political undertones and appear to be commissioned.

It should be noted that for a long time, the Football Federation of Armenia has adopted a policy of not interfering in the decisions of the national team’s head coach, particularly regarding player selection. The roster is determined exclusively by the head coach based on his chosen tactics or objectives for the upcoming matches.

Since Joaquín Caparrós was appointed as head coach, efforts have once again been made to negatively impact the excellent atmosphere surrounding the national team before its upcoming match. Therefore, we must once again call for the avoidance of political speculations.”
