Events in Armenia Result from Internal Divisions in Society, Says Zatuliny
According to Konstantin Zatulin, a member of the State Duma of Russia and director of the Institute of CIS Countries, the status quo at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border should be restored.
Zatulin made this statement during an online press conference on May 25. He noted that after the defeat in the 44-day war in Artsakh, significant efforts are needed to restore the defensive capability and combat morale of the Armenian Armed Forces, as well as to ensure that the people believe that the state can defend itself.
Zatulin pointed out that the ongoing events in Armenia are the result of internal divisions within society; however, according to the deputy, this does not justify the provocations of Azerbaijan, which seeks to take advantage of the situation. "Azerbaijan is trying to gain some advantages again, wants to extort and obtain certain things. This situation is absolutely transparent and needs to be diagnosed. The status quo must be restored," emphasized Zatulin.
