Couple in India Charters Plane to Hold Wedding with 161 Guests Amid COVID-19 Restrictions

A couple in India has chartered a plane to evade coronavirus restrictions and host a wedding with 161 guests, reports the Mirror.

Residents of Madurai, Rakesh and Dakshina, did not want to give up their dream of marrying in front of more than 160 guests. Last week, they tied the knot aboard their rented aircraft during a flight from Madurai to Bangalore.

According to reports, the plane departed from Madurai International Airport at 7 AM. Footage that surfaced online shows the couple exchanging wedding rings in the presence of dozens of guests.

After the in-flight wedding ceremony, the couple hosted a small reception in Bangalore that evening. Furthermore, the police are reportedly "looking into the matter and considering starting an investigation regarding potential COVID-19 violations.”
