Video: Death Toll from Volcano Eruption in Congo Could Reach 100

The death toll from the volcanic eruption in the Democratic Republic of the Congo could reach 100, a local resident has reported to RIA Novosti.

It was previously reported that one of Africa's most active volcanoes, Nyiragongo, located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, erupted. Nyiragongo stands 3,470 meters high.

During the eruption, the flow of lava from the summit to the base can reach speeds of up to 96 km/h. The largest recorded eruption of the volcano occurred in 1977, resulting in the deaths of 600 people.
