Rescue Workers Combat Blaze in Masis City Landfill for Over 16 Hours

It has been over 16 hours since teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' rescue services from Masis, Artashat, and several fire-rescue units in Yerevan have been fighting a fire that broke out in a landfill spanning approximately 4 hectares near the city of Masis, reports Shamshyan.com.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan on the scene, the flames and smoke are visible even from Yerevan, and throughout the night, firefighters have been working alongside landfill employees without interruption. Currently, efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing, with Minister of Emergency Situations Andranik Piloyan and Director of the Rescue Service Armen Gasparyan present at the location.

The work of firefighters is also being hampered by strong winds and continuous heavy rainfall.
