Marukyan: If the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are to Increase in Number on Armenian Territory Every Day, What Elections Are We Talking About?

This congress was supposed to take place a week ago, but when the enemy invaded the Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces, the 'Enlightened Armenia' party canceled it. We later saw that congress after congress is taking place in the country, and we realized that no process has really come to a standstill. This was stated today during the third extraordinary congress of the 'Enlightened Armenia' party by its leader Edmon Marukyan.

He noted that they understood that the train of elections has already started moving. Speaking about the document discussed in recent days, Marukyan said, 'I have not seen the final document, so I cannot give a final assessment, but one thing I know for sure is that processes have taken place without our knowledge. I mean, without the knowledge of the people. We convened an extraordinary session, proposed a statement, which was rejected in parliament, but we managed to at least get some information, however, it raised our concerns even more and led to more questions.'

He continued, 'I do not remember the Azerbaijani leader ever saying that there are territories of Soviet Armenia within Azerbaijan that they control. We hear this from our leadership. It is unclear why we are talking about this, why we are voicing it.' Edmon Marukyan stated that the situation is very serious in this regard, and if this situation deepens, he does not rule out that no elections will take place at all.

'If the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have to increase in number in Armenian territory every day, what elections are we talking about? What will we discuss at that time? We do not even have an electoral mood in the congress; it is not just like this that we have gathered,' said the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' party.
