We Welcome the Agreement to Withdraw Some Units: CSTO Secretary
The Collective Security Treaty Organization is closely monitoring the situation in the border areas of Armenia's Syunik Province. This was stated by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
“The CSTO is carefully observing the situation in the border areas of Armenia's Syunik Province,” said Zas.
He reported that the situation had been a topic of detailed discussion at the CSTO Foreign Ministers' Council meeting on May 19.
Zas noted that they welcome the negotiations that have begun between the parties with Russia’s mediation, as well as the agreement to withdraw some units.
Zas mentioned that the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and the continuation of the negotiation process have significantly improved the situation.
“We see a prospect for establishing long-term peace there. There are no more shootings, but the situation is still tense,” Zas said.
