Tatev-Kapan Road, Alternative to Goris-Kapan, Remains in Ruins
The Tatev-Kapan road, which serves as an alternative to the Goris-Kapan road in the southern direction of Armenia, continues to remain in a state of disrepair. This was reported by Tigran Abrahamyan, a former advisor to the President of Artsakh, on his Facebook page.
He specifically noted, “I should point out that in the post-war phase, part of the main highway leading from Goris to Kapan through Vorotan and Shurnukh is completely under Azerbaijani control, while another section passes in close proximity to Azerbaijani military positions and observation posts.
Last year, due to the created situation, the question of an alternative road was raised, promises were made, but serious work has yet to be carried out. Although the road is passable and is used partially, several dozen kilometers of it are in dire need of repair or reconstruction.
Perhaps it has been included in some program, but long ago—as a priority—these works should have already commenced. Those who consider the current situation to be crisis and explosive have not taken any serious steps to reform Armenia’s security system or to develop/modernize strategic communications in the post-war phase, and the country continues to move forward without a driver and at a considerably high speed.
