Anomalous Heat Waves Forecasted in Armenia
On May 21, a historic meteorological phenomenon is expected in Armenia. Due to the influx of tropical warm air from the Arabian deserts, the temperature across the entire country is anticipated to rise by 5-7 degrees Celsius, reaching record highs on May 21.
Specifically, in the Ararat Plain and Yerevan region, the highest temperatures ever recorded in May were in the third decade of May 1999 and 2020, reaching +35.1 to +35.3 degrees. However, according to forecasts, temperatures in these areas are expected to soar to +36 to +37 degrees on May 21. During these days, temperatures across the country will be 8-10 degrees above the climatic norm.
The temperature is expected to start decreasing from May 23, which will also be accompanied by short, thunderstorm-related rains.
