Calm Issues Can Be Resolved and I Don't See a Pretext for Inflaming Emotions: Lavrov on the Situation in Syunik

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that there is no pretext for "inflaming emotions" due to the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. "Moscow is ready to support Yerevan and Baku in the matter of demarcation," Lavrov said, according to RIA Novosti.

"No shots have been fired, there has been no clash. They sat down and calmly agreed on how to de-escalate the situation. We have been asked for support, our military has provided assistance, and an agreement has been reached. I see no reason for emotions to flare up over a matter that, while serious, can be resolved calmly," Lavrov noted.

The head of the foreign ministry also discussed the situation at the border, adding that the Azerbaijani side had made statements following an incident, describing it as a misunderstanding and explaining that it was primarily due to the lack of demarcation, which could have been achieved through delimitation and demarcation processes.

"No one has ever dealt with this, and we have suggested to the parties that they begin working on it. We are ready to assist in providing cartographic materials and advisory services," the diplomat added.
