Azerbaijani Armed Forces Must Withdraw from Armenia, Says Pashinyan

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has outlined the steps to be taken regarding the situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

“Negotiations continued yesterday until late in the evening, and will continue on Wednesday. The negotiations focus on one issue: the Azerbaijani armed forces must withdraw from the territory of the Republic of Armenia. As long as this does not happen, we assess the issue and the situation as a crisis that poses a threat to the sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, a situation defined by the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Collective Security Treaty, and the regulations on responding to crisis situations,” Pashinyan stated.

He added that they must activate political means to resolve the issue. “If this kind of result cannot be achieved, then in the same logic, military-political mechanisms should be activated. I mean, there are functions provided by the Collective Security Treaty and the Armenian-Russian treaties, and those treaties are specifically designed for such cases, and we have initiated those actions, exercising our legitimate right,” the Acting Prime Minister noted.
