What Are the Negotiations About, What Does Azerbaijan Demand, and What Compromise Options Are on the Table? Tigran Abrahamyan
When the government talks about negotiations aiming to remove Azerbaijan from the state border of the Republic of Armenia and their return to a starting position, it fails to address a very important issue: what will be the price of this? The head of the "Henaket" analytical center, Tigran Abrahamyan, wrote this on his Facebook page.
"What are the negotiations about, what does Azerbaijan demand, and what compromise options are on the table? If, as a result of negotiations, Azerbaijan has to retreat but gains concessions in another part of Syunik, such as a 'corridor', additional privileges, or in another form, then at this moment, we can only talk about a relative solution," Abrahamyan stated.
"In the post-war phase, Armenia has only conceded, giving up in all possible directions and positions; however, Azerbaijan aims to gain as much as possible. This is why they are not satisfied with what they have gained and will continue to push as far as they are allowed. This issue requires urgent resolution; if Azerbaijan manages to position itself and provide the necessary infrastructure for its troops, then this matter will not be resolved peacefully, or if it is resolved, it will be at a much higher cost to Armenia," Abrahamyan wrote.
