Defense Ministry: Situation Created in the Border Areas of Syunik and Gegharkunik Regions

On May 12 and 13, in the aftermath of Azerbaijani military incursions into certain sections of the borders of Syunik and Gegharkunik regions of the Republic of Armenia under the pretext of "border demarcation", the situation as of the morning of May 15 has not yet been resolved. Despite the fact that the actions undertaken by Armenian units forced Azerbaijani soldiers to retreat from some areas, some of them continue to be present on the territory of the Republic of Armenia at this time. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.

The armed forces of the Republic of Armenia emphasize the necessity for a peaceful resolution to the situation, however, they once again declare that incursions into the sovereign territories of Armenia are absolutely unacceptable, and the Azerbaijani side is obliged to return to its original positions unconditionally.

It is worth noting that in all three directions where the Azerbaijani armed forces attempted to secure positional advancement, both the entire area, their soldiers, and their supply routes are under the full control of the Armenian armed forces.

Negotiations aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution of the issue, which began on May 12, are expected to continue today. Considering the vast amount of misinformation circulating on the internet and various media regarding the situation, we once again call on everyone to refrain from disseminating unverified and especially false information. Throughout the day, the Ministry of Defense will periodically provide relevant clarifications regarding the situation.
