Surene Sargsyan on the Recent Statements from the State Department

International relations expert Surene Sargsyan has commented on the recent statement from the U.S. State Department: “Regarding the State Department's latest statements, if the Armenian side does not respond within a few hours to the terms 'disputed territories' and 'demarcation issues,' one can assume that the American co-chairs have also coordinated these terms with the Armenian side. This means that we have also accepted in advance that these are demarcation processes in disputed territories. If we do not agree with the statements, then the Azerbaijanis have worked with the American side, while we have not. It will become clear in a few hours.”

It is noteworthy that during a recent briefing, Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department Jalina Porter stated, “We are closely monitoring the situation along the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The movement of troops in disputed territories is an irresponsible and baseless provocative action.” Jalina Porter also mentioned that U.S. authorities consider Azerbaijan's actions along the border with Armenia to be provocative. According to her, the U.S. is paying close attention to the situation in the Syunik region. “We are closely monitoring the situation. The movement of forces is irresponsible and unjustified, as well as provocative. We hope that Azerbaijan will immediately withdraw all its forces and cease further provocations,” she said.
