Border Situation in Syunik and Gegharkunik: Ministry of Defense

On May 12 and 13, following the incursions by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into certain border areas of Armenia's Syunik and Gegharkunik regions under the pretext of "border clarification," the situation remains unchanged.

The Armenian side has presented its clear demand to the Azerbaijani military to return to their original positions without any preconditions.

To resolve the issue peacefully, negotiations initiated on May 12 will continue tomorrow.

Reports circulating on the internet and through various media about new advancements by Azerbaijani military subdivisions are not true.

Since May 13, Azerbaijani forces have not advanced; rather, as a result of the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces, they have been forced to withdraw from certain areas.

Once again, we call on everyone to refrain from spreading unverified or, especially, false information concerning such sensitive issues.

In case of any developments in the situation, the Ministry of Defense will issue an appropriate statement.
