Wanted Suspect Kidnaps Taxi and Damages Several Vehicles

On May 11, a special police operation was conducted in the capital by the Criminal Police Department of the RA Police, the Drug Enforcement Division, the Ararat Regional Police Department, the Artashat and Shengavit Police Departments, and the 1st Company of the Traffic Police, as reported by shamshyan.com.

Operational information was received at the Criminal Police that a wanted suspect in a particularly serious crime, 39-year-old Vardan Minasyan from the village of Dalar in the Ararat region, had taken a ride in a Toyota taxi from the city of Artashat towards Yerevan.

The police executed necessary ambushes operationally, and the suspect was spotted by Artashat police in the Toyota taxi. When the Toyota approached the vicinity of 100 Noragavit Street in Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan, a traffic police officer stopped the vehicle and requested the driver to present the car’s documents.

The driver exited the vehicle, and as he approached the traffic police officer, Vardan Minasyan kidnapped the car. Police pursued the vehicle, which caused damage to several cars during the chase, but Vardan Minasyan was unable to escape. He was surrounded by the police, and thanks to the officers’ skilled actions, he was neutralized and taken to the Ararat Police Department.
