Father of War Casualty Killed in Partizak Village

On May 5, a dispute occurred in the village of Partizak, Aragatsotn Province, between 64-year-old Abraham Grigoryan and Mushag Baghdasaryan. As a result of the incident, Abraham Grigoryan sustained injuries and later died.

According to information obtained by NEWS.am, the cause of the dispute was a 13th-century cross-stone brought from Karvachar.

In an interview with the news outlet, 64-year-old Abraham Grigoryan's son, Mehran Grigoryan, explained that the argument arose over the transfer of the cross-stone's pedestal, during which his fellow villager obstructed the relocation. “He obstructed my father from carrying out the transfer, and as a result of that argument, this happened. It was an unreasonable dispute that did not concern that person at all. If he wasn’t helping, at least he shouldn’t have caused trouble. We brought that cross-stone from Karvachar with my brother and father. We were residents there and lost everything, but we didn’t think about that; we brought the cross-stone and saved it. When my brother was killed, there wasn’t a cross-stone in the village, and we decided to install this one,” he said.

Mehran Grigoryan mentioned that his brother was killed during the 44-day war, and he himself is also a veteran. “It was a holy act to save the cross-stone, to bring it and install it is one of the sacred tasks. It was a 13th-century cross-stone, a historical artifact,” he noted.

Mehran Grigoryan also stated that Mushag Baghdasaryan has been charged. “It’s a time-consuming process; an investigation is underway. We have turned to the law enforcement agencies, and everything is proceeding within the framework of the law. After the investigation results, I will say whether I am satisfied with the work or not. There are witnesses to the incident, and legal processes are ongoing,” he added.
