Brawl Among Employees of the 'Kentron' Administrative District: One Struck on the Head with a Keyboard

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an investigation in the Yerevan City Investigative Division into all the circumstances of an incident that occurred in the staff of the 'Kentron' administrative district.

According to preliminary data, on May 11, 2021, around 10:00 AM, the acting head of the 'Kentron' administrative district, along with the chief specialist of the municipal department and about 10 other employees, entered the office of the head of the urban planning and land use department of the same administrative district. A dispute arose due to disagreements regarding work-related issues, during which the acting head of the administrative district and those who entered the office physically assaulted the head of that department. The chief specialist of the municipal department struck the head of the department with a computer keyboard, while one of the attendees broke the computer and keyboard belonging to the head, causing property damage estimated at about 1,500,000 Armenian drams.

Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the acting head of the administrative district has been charged with exceeding official powers, while the chief specialist of the municipal department has been accused of committing hooliganism using objects as weapons. Both were arrested the same day. The pre-investigation continues.
