The Issue of Prisoners of War Return Must Be Resolved Unconditionally, Lavrov
Following a meeting between the foreign ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan, Lavrov and Bayramov, a press conference was held where the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry was asked about the provision of maps for the minefields in areas under Azerbaijani control, according to TASS. This information was reported by Armtimes.com.
Lavrov stated that Russia aims to resolve humanitarian issues, including providing maps of the minefields laid by the Armenian side, the return of prisoners of war, as well as the bodies of the deceased, and clarifying the fates of the missing persons quickly and without preconditions.
According to the Russian Foreign Minister, the main condition for further resolution of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is adherence to the agreements signed by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021. Lavrov noted that these agreements contribute to a complete cessation of military operations in the region, as well as the unblocking of communication routes, which have for years prevented the full utilization of the transit and economic potential of this geopolitically significant region.
