Deputy Mayor of Kentron and a Municipality Employee Arrested

The deputy governor of the Kentron administrative district, Armen Azizyan, and Manvel Margaryan, the head of the municipality's architecture and land use department, have been arrested following an altercation that occurred today, May 11.

This information was confirmed to NEWS.am by the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General's Office. Armen Azizyan was arrested under Article 309, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (exceeding official powers with the use of violence, weapons, or special means), while the other involved party was arrested under Article 258, Part 4 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism, accompanied by infliction of moderate bodily harm).

It is noteworthy that this morning's brawl occurred between Manvel Margaryan and Armen Azizyan. NEWS.am was informed that the Mayor of Kentron, Avet Poghosyan, is currently on vacation. In a conversation with us, the spokesperson for the mayor's office, Hakob Karapetyan, stated that he is not familiar with the details of the incident and declined to comment.
