We Have Lost the Opportunity to Secure a Safety Zone. How Much Further Should We Withdraw? - Seyran Ohanyan
We have lost the opportunity to secure a safety zone; the delineation has been carried out without state or international procedures, said the former Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, during a conversation with journalists at Liberty Square.
“There have been no conditions, there has been no signed relevant agreement, but our armed forces have, under our country's orders, left all strategic points that are currently under the control of Azerbaijan, without realizing that later, when we go for actual delineation, if we need to tell the adversary, ‘You must withdraw,’ it will be very difficult to come to that agreement,” Ohanyan noted.
According to him, inexperienced individuals do not understand that every step taken requires years of negotiation for each negotiation point to promote one’s own viewpoint.
“These are the inexperienced ones who thoughtlessly say, ‘Well, withdraw, fine.’ How much further should we withdraw?” he stated.
