France Concerned About Opening of Military Trophy Park in Azerbaijan: It Contradicts Peace Aspirations
France is concerned about the opening of a "military trophy park" in Baku, Azerbaijan, which showcases military equipment seized during the war and wax figures purportedly representing Armenian soldiers. This was reported by a diplomatic source in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Armenpress.
As a co-chair country of the Minsk Group, France is committed to establishing sustainable peace and prosperity in the region. The country is troubled by the public display associated with the opening ceremony of the park, which was organized to celebrate Azerbaijan's military victory in the Nagorno-Karabakh war. The opening of such an exhibition contradicts the aspirations for restoring peace, which have been repeatedly endorsed by the Azerbaijani authorities themselves, especially as this deadly conflict has brought grief and devastation to numerous families in both Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the diplomatic source noted.
France will continue to work with other co-chairs to achieve the objectives outlined in the text of the April 13 statement of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. “This was requested by both the president and the minister of the republic,” the response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
