Five Earthquakes Registered in Armenia and Artsakh in One Week

The Ministry of Emergency Situations' Seismic Protection Territorial Service reports that from April 29 to May 5, five earthquakes with a magnitude of 2-3 and higher were registered in the territories of Armenia and Artsakh.

On May 1, an earthquake of 2-3 magnitudes occurred in the Armenia-Georgia border region, 12 km northwest of the village of Ashotzk. On the same day, another earthquake of 3 magnitudes was recorded 19 km southeast of the city of Martuni in Armenia, which was felt in the villages of Aghnjadzor, Artabuynk, Taratumb, Hors, Sali, and Karaglukh in the Vayots Dzor region with an intensity of 2-3.

On May 3, an earthquake of 2-3 magnitudes was registered 13 km southwest of the city of Gavar.

On May 5, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3 occurred 5 km southwest of the village of Elpin, which was felt in the villages of Zangakatun, Tigranashen, and Paruyr Sevak in the Ararat region with an intensity of 2-3. Additionally, another earthquake was noted 7 km northwest of this spot with a magnitude of 3-4, felt in the Ararat region villages of Zangakatun and Lanjarr, experiencing an intensity of 3.

In the broader region, eight earthquakes with a magnitude of 3 and above were recorded. On April 29, two earthquakes were registered in Iran, one with a magnitude of 3, 19 km southeast of the city of Khoy, and another in Georgia, 14 km northeast of the city of Telavi, with a magnitude of 3-4. On May 3, Turkey had two earthquakes northeast of the city of Alashkert, measuring magnitudes of 3 and 3-4 respectively, while in Azerbaijan, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4 occurred 18 km northeast of the city of Qazakh. On May 4, Azerbaijan had a magnitude 3-4 earthquake registered 17 km northeast of Qazakh and another measuring 3 northeastern of Qazakh. Turkey also recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 3-4, 42 km northeast of the city of Van.
