Second Earthquake Recorded in Armenia Today

On May 5, at 13:16 local time (09:16 GMT), a second earthquake was recorded in Armenia by the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The earthquake occurred in the border zone between Armenia and Nakhchivan, 8 km northwest of the village of Yelpin in Vayots Dzor province, at a depth of 10 km, measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale.

The intensity of the underground tremors in the epicentral area was rated at 3-4 on the local scale. The earthquake was felt in the villages of Zangakatun and Lanjarr in Ararat province, where it registered an intensity of 3.

It is noteworthy that earlier today, at 09:56 local time, another earthquake was recorded near the village of Yelpin, with tremors registering an intensity of 3 in the epicentral region.
