Opel Crashes into Concrete Power Poles Near Zovuni, Ends Up in Field
A major car accident occurred today, May 5, in the Kotayk region. At approximately 10:20 AM, an Opel Astra vehicle traveling on the Yegvard-Zovuni road, near the beginning of Zovuni village towards Yerevan, veered off the traffic lane under unknown circumstances, collided with two concrete power poles, knocked them down, and ended up in a field.
According to shamshyan.com, as a result of the accident, the driver was hospitalized with bodily injuries at the Armenia Medical Center. Rapid response teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene with one fire brigade unit. The rescuers disconnected the vehicle from the power supply and secured the area.
Also quickly arriving at the scene were the officers from the 3rd company of the 2nd patrol battalion of the traffic police, led by the company commander Artur Petrosyan and the platoon commander Tigran Kotanjyan. The investigative work at the site is being managed by senior investigator Misha Stepanyan from the same battalion, who is preparing materials regarding the incident. The on-duty group from the Nairi police department also arrived on the scene under the supervision of the day’s responsible officer.
Due to the fallen power poles, the electricity supply in the area has been temporarily suspended, and representatives from the Electric Networks of Armenia have arrived to undertake the necessary work to replace the damaged power poles and restore electricity supply. The police are working to establish the identities of the driver and the injured individual.
