Displaced Residents of Hadrut Region Want to Deliver Letter to Sergey Lavrov
The displaced residents of the Hadrut region of Artsakh are currently gathered near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) building. One of the Hadrut residents, Mr. Levon, stated that they heard about the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister to Armenia and decided to assemble in front of the MFA to try to address their issues in this manner.
“In addition to this, we also need to hand over a letter to the Foreign Minister so that we can meet him and understand what is going to happen to us. The Russians declare that Artsakh is part of Azerbaijan, while France and the USA offer hope that the issue can be discussed through negotiations. Everyone is interested in the Artsakh issue, except for the leadership of Armenia and Artsakh. There is no political figure in this nation who stands up and says, ‘Artsakh is not Azerbaijan, it has never been and will never be.’ We want to return to our homeland; we do not want to live in Yerevan or any other region of Artsakh; we are from Hadrut, and we want to live in Hadrut,” he stressed.
The Hadrut resident noted that if they go and live in another region, Hadrut will be forgotten. He found it incomprehensible that elections are being held here with unresolved issues in Artsakh, which, according to him, means that no one will think about Artsakh for three months, and no solutions will be found for the problems.
“What has happened to Hadrut is not over yet; with such behavior and approaches, nothing good will come of it. Hadrut must be returned because if it is not returned, then no one will be left in Martuni or Stepanakert,” he said.
A short while ago, they handed their letter to the MFA staff. In the letter, they presented their demands. Earlier, it was reported that Sergey Lavrov would arrive in Armenia today.
