Video: Marukyan's Call to the Public
During a Facebook live broadcast, Edmond Marukyan, the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' parliamentary faction, stated that the political forces will not be making nominations in the first round of the Prime Minister election taking place today. This does not mean that 'Enlightened Armenia' or other forces do not have their candidate.
‘As a result of the agreements among parliamentary forces, it is necessary to agree that no one will intervene in any way in the parliament, which could lead to its dissolution, after which the President of Armenia can sign a decree regarding the date of the elections,’ said Edmond Marukyan.
He noted that their interactions with citizens indicate that a significant number of people do not wish to participate in the elections. ‘All of this has been done so that you decide how Armenia should be governed for the next five years. If you do not go to the polling stations, all these agreements become meaningless. It is important that you decide today whether you will participate in the parliamentary elections,’ the MP added.
