Online Enrollment for First Graders Begins

Online Enrollment for First Graders Begins

The enrollment for first graders in the state general education schools of Armenia for the 2021-22 academic year will once again be conducted online via the hayt.emis.am system. The first phase will start on May 3 at 9:00 AM, during which parents must verify the presence and accuracy of their personal data by accessing the stugum.emis.am website. Here, there are two fields where the parent’s and child’s public services identification numbers must be entered. If a parent enters the public services number but receives the response 'The system did not detect the parent-child relationship' (which should automatically be retrieved from the Civil Status Acts Registration Agency’s database), they will be prompted to submit their information to the Civil Status Agency via the appropriate button on the site for digitization.

The second phase will begin on June 1 at 9:00 AM, where the actual enrollment process will take place on the hayt.emis.am website according to established priorities. From June 1 to June 10, the following applicants will be prioritized: one of the parents of the child going to the first grade is an employee of the school; the child going to the first grade has a sibling already attending that school.

The third phase will begin on June 11 at 9:00 AM for those who do not meet the above two criteria. After the licensed capacity of the respective school is filled, the online system will no longer allow registration at that school. At the same time, citizens can edit their submitted application via the system, changing their chosen school and enrolling in another general education school. The system will be open for the entire academic year starting June 11.

What to do if you are abroad?

Any parent can enroll their child in state general education schools for first grade through the online system from anywhere in the world; the system provides equal initial conditions for everyone. If you have the necessary documents, you can also register from abroad. However, if you have issues obtaining documents, specifically the public services number, you can organize the process through a power of attorney with notarized copies of your passport and birth certificate.

For foreign citizens in Armenia and their children, the public services number is also mandatory; it is issued when registering with passport divisions.
