Levon Aronian Exits New in Chess Classic Semi-Finals

Grandmaster Levon Aronian has been eliminated from the New in Chess Classic online rapid chess tournament.

According to Armenpress, Aronian faced the reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen in the semi-finals of the tournament. On the second day of competition, two games ended in a draw, while in the other two games, Carlsen outperformed Aronian.

A total of 16 chess players are participating in the New In Chess Classic, which is considered part of the Champions Chess Tour. The prize fund is set at $100,000, with the winner receiving $30,000.

Aronian continues to represent the Armenian flag, although he recently announced that he would be leaving Armenia. He will join the US national team.
